Italians lose confidence in economy
St Petersburg News.Net Tuesday 22nd July, 2008
Italian consumer confidence has slumped in July to the lowest level since the 1993 recession.
A survey of 2,000 families has shown the confidence level falling to 95.8 from a revised 99.9 last month.
In November 1993, the 26-year-old index hit a record low of 95.4.
The outlook for economic growth has been clouded in Italy, with consumer prices being driven up by prices in the 15 euro nations at the fastest pace in more than 16 years.
