Russia COVID-19 cases up 5,905 to over 1.09 million

MOSCOW, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Russia registered 5,905 new COVID-19 cases and 134 new deaths in the past 24 hours, taking its tally of infections to 1,091,186 and death toll to 19,195, the country's COVID-19 response center said in a statement Friday.

Moscow reported 805 new cases, bringing its total to 274,808, the center said.

According to the statement, 901,207 patients have recovered so far, including 5,339 over the past day.

As of Thursday, 233,428 people were still under medical observation, while over 42 million tests have been conducted across the country, the center said.
