BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

MINSK -- Belarus reported 213 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking its total to 75,674, according to the country's health ministry.

There have been 53 new recoveries in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 73,265, the ministry added.

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 3,989 within one day to 244,676, with the death toll adding by 105 to 9,553, the health ministry said on Sunday.

According to the ministry, 2,977 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 177,327.

CANBERRA -- Australia on Sunday confirmed 19 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest number in about three months.

As of Sunday afternoon, there had been altogether 26,898 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh reported 1,544 new COVID-19 cases and 26 new deaths on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 348,916 and total deaths to 4,939, the Directorate General of Health Services said.

The official data showed that 11,591 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong reported four new local infections of COVID-19 on Sunday, signaling continued abatement of the third wave of outbreak.

Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection said in a statement that all the local new infections can be traced to previous patients and added that there were also 19 imported cases on Sunday.

MOSCOW -- Russia has registered 6,148 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking its total to 1,103,399, the country's COVID-19 response center said in a statement Sunday.

Meanwhile, 79 new deaths were reported, taking the death toll to 19,418, it said.
